Autumn Colors and a Question!

Well, we are back from our week long vacation on Southern Oregon. While we were there I was able to get some autumn photos, which I had been dying to do! I love all the beautiful colors this time of year! Hopefully I'll have more of our trip up soon!

This was a pretty pond at the resort that we stayed at - I was so excited to finally get some reflection photos! :)

I LOVE the red colors on trees, and sunflares are so much fun, too! :)

A frosty red leaf in the morning light!

Now, this is where I need your help! These next two photos are almost exactly alike, but I changed my shutter speed on each to give the light a different effect - the sun was just coming over the hill around 8 am in the morning. Which one do you like best? I may enlarge one for printing, but can't decide! :)

Hey Jenn! I can't decide which one I like better. I like the 1st one cuz the morning light is more dramatic, but I like the second one cuz the tree is more dramatic. Hows that for helpful? You should print both of them. :-) If you want great reflection pics, you should come see us in the early summer. The columbia river is perfectly smooth on the way to meeting sunday morning, and the reflections are SPECTACULAR! And, I love the red tree with the sunflare. Do I get the longest comment ever prize? I do? YAY!

Ok, I went back and looked at them, and I vote the second picture. Final Answer. :-)

I can't decide; they're both great. Tree is best in #1, and sky is great in #2. Print both?

I think the first for the brighter lighting. Sometimes prints look darker than on the screen.

The FIRST! It's so pretty and SUNfully brilliant. Okay sorry.

I think maybe you should go back and take another one, because they get better as the mist fades. :)Klamb

I like the first one! Beautiful! The focus is more directed on the morning light and the mist and the 2nd although beautiful as well the light sky keeps drawing your eyes up. Make sense? ;)

The first one - love the light. You take good pictures. By the way - I'm your husband's uncle Paul's wife's brother's wife. How's that for a mouthful? :o)

Wow!!! Jenn, those are amazing!! I LOVE the frosty leaf one, and the red-sunflare leaf one, gorgeous!!!!
Ok, too many exclaimation marks. But about the other pictures,1st one is definately the best. The light gives almost a fairy tale feeling, wierd explaintion, but the light sets off everything that way. The 2nd has those streaks in the sky(which I personally dont like)and the tree is too shadowy. And as Emy says *ahem* it is "sun-fully brilliant" :)

Thank you all so much for your opinions! This really helps me out! I'm leaning toward the first one, although I do like the feel of them both. :)

hey jen- I like the second one a lot because the mood is so quiet, but the first one is definitely better because the contrails are washed out of the sky. Jetliner contrails are not as romantic as mist, (unless you're flying to see your boyfriend). Besides, eliminating the blue in the sky helps it gain a more monochromatic feel. Wow, I can't get over how awesome your shots are. Keep shootin'.

Hi Jenn..
The lighting in the first one makes me think of the Lord's coming. It's just directly from HIM and keeps the focus on our Creator. I agree that the jet stream detracts from the second photo. That said, they are both gorgeous photos.

You take some gorgeous pictures! I also love taking pictures, but am very amateur. I vote for the first one I think...the lighting is beautiful. Also, I love the first picture with the reflection of the trees on the water. Wow, you could sell that picture (I'd buy it!).

The frosty leaf is the best, love it!
